Week 15 Post Op

Day One HealthI hope I am not sounding like a broken record here but ever since I have gotten my surgery I am learning something new about my band, my body and food, and how they all get along with each other every day! For example, they tell you that some days your band can feel tight. I was always very confused by this statement because in my head I imagine a rubber band being wound tight, something like that you can noticeably feel.

With my band I can’t feel it, so I always thought that statement was weird…until I experienced it! You’ll know when your band is tight when things that normally wouldn’t be difficult to digest are. I had dinner with a friend last night and we ordered chinese take-out. I ordered steamed chicken with broccoli, sauce on the side. The chicken was moist and delicious while the broccoli was steamed; it wasn’t soft enough for my body to handle it.

I’ll spare you the yuck that came along with that but the best way I can describe the feeling I had was, it didn’t feel like the food was going down. It felt stuck. Even though I thoroughly chewed my food, there was no getting this broccoli to go down. So unfortunately it came back up. =(

Learning what to eat on the days when your band feels tight is something I am still learning. This is the second time it has happened to me and hopefully I will learn to listen to my body more carefully from here on out.

Now to end on a positive note and get that gross image out of your head I have some good news! =) Are ya ready for it??? I have officially hit my half way mark!! WOOHOO!! I am down 50lbs and it’s not even June yet! My goal is to lose another 50lbs by December, and if I keep staying focused, working out, eating right and listening to my body?? I think I can reach my goal no problem!

From here on out, I will be posting once a month and more pictures will come to show you my progress; so stay tuned! Good things are happening! I hope they are for you too!
