Week 9 Post-Op
I’m 8 weeks out from when I had my surgery and I’m feeling pretty good! As I reflect back, I think about all the cool and not so cool things that I have got to experience in my weight loss journey.
For example, one cool thing that has happened is I am officially down 2 pant sizes!! WOO HOO!! 2 pant sizes down and 4 more to go!!
It has been 3 weeks since I received my first band adjustment and 2 weeks since my second. I am noticing that my portion sizes have decreased but my want to eat more has not. When I first receive my adjustment, I feel like the restriction is just right. But as days go by and things start to go back to “normal” I find myself thinking and feeling that “it could be a little tighter..”
After talking with Lauren and learning that my portion size is to be about the size of the palm of my hand, with 2 weeks out from my second adjustment, I’m still eating a larger portion than that. I would say I’m eating double that. So, I am looking forward to getting another adjustment (as long as they have the good numbing stuff! LOL). I’m not in any pain. I do experience some discomfort around my port sight and I am cautious laying on my left side and bending over and just doing anything that might irritate the area.
All in all I feel good, and I am learning that this whole thing is a learning experience. I have to re-learn to eat, what to eat, how to think and feel about food, and it can get overwhelming real quick but just like with everything else in life… you just got to take it one day at a time.
