Surgery Day
I had to be at the surgical center at 10:15am. After checking in and filling out paperwork, Gladys greeted me with a big smile and a hug. Shortly after I was taken back to the recovery room that was assigned to me, I changed into the lovely surgical wear, complete with booties. I got weighed in, my total weight loss over the 2 week span was 17lbs. Was hoping for more but I’ll take it! =)
They no sooner put my IV in and they whisked me away to the OR, but not before they made me drink this awful antacid stuff! UGH! It makes my face quiver just thinking about it!! Once in the OR they got me on the operating table, strapped down my arms and gave me some oxygen.
The anesthesiologist asked me what kind of cocktail I wanted, which made me chuckle. I told him “I’m a martini girl”. Next thing ya know I’m out and trying to wake up from the anesthesia. Now THAT’S what I call a cocktail!! LOL
I spent a few hours in recovery. They said I would be pretty gassy and I was. But they did say I could take some Gas-X when I get home! Once I became more coherent I got up and walked around a few times; that really does help to relieve the gas pressure!
Before I could be discharged they needed an X-ray of my stomach to ensure everything is in its proper place. I had to drink the nastiest concoction known to man before they could take the X-ray. Everything looked good and Dr.Elli was happy with everything so they let me go home. I spent most of the evening resting, sipping on ice chips and walking up and down the hallway of my apartment building. I believe tomorrow will be a lot of the same.
