After attending our introductory
Weight
Loss Seminar and submitting a completed Registration Form, a member of the
DayOne support team will schedule you for a one-on-one consultation with the surgeon.
During your one-on-one medical consultation, the doctor will carefully review your
medical history and will discuss both your eligibility as well as the requirements
and potential risks associated with the Lap-Band procedure. In addition, you will
have the opportunity at the consultation to ask any additional questions you may
have.
Eligibility Criteria
According to the National Institutes of Health, potential candidates for bariatric
surgery are:
- Patients who have to have a low probability of success with non-surgical measures
according to clinicians.
- Patients whose Body Mass Index (BMI)
exceeds 40 if they strongly desire substantial weight loss, because obesity severely
impairs the quality of their lives.
- In certain instances less severely obese patients with Body Mass Index ("BMI") between
35 and 40 with other related medical problems. Included in this category are patients
with high-risk conditions such as life-threatening cardiopulmonary problems or severe
diabetes mellitus. Other possible surgical indications for patients in this BMI
range are obesity-induced physical problems that interfere with lifestyle such as
joint diseases and body size problems that preclude or severely interfere with employment,
family function and ambulation.

Am I a Candidate?" However, final determination of
your eligibility for the procedure will be determined by the DayOne medical team
on an individual case basis.
