Am I Really Ready?
The lap-band has helped thousands of patients in Chicago and around the world lose weight and also keeping it off. As you explore your weight loss options, you may be wondering—will laparoscopic adjustable gastric band surgery work for me? Typically, the answer is: Yes! Although, it works for many people, the lap-band is not for everyone. You will need to consider your medical eligibility, your commitment to your new lifestyle and your insurance coverage or financial ability to pay for surgery.

Am I Medically Eligible to Get the LAP-BAND Procedure?
Once you decide you’re interested in a gastric band surgery, we will need to make sure that there are no medical obstacles for you to get it. During the consultation, your surgeon is going to determine if you have any conditions interfering with placement of the band. Because our main concern is that you lose weight safely, we may ask you to do some additional tests before giving you our final recommendation.
While some of the preoperative testing can be performed in our clinic, for some you will need to be scheduled outside of our facility. We value your time as well as convenience, so we’ll not only tell you in advance what tests are required, but we’ll also schedule them for you. Since your first consultation, we will make sure you are well prepared for every stage of your lap-band journey.

Am I Emotionally Ready for the Weight Loss Procedure?
During your last weeks before the procedure, you will probably ask yourself multiple times: Am I really ready for this? We understand how important and how difficult the final decision can be, and how big of a change you are deciding for. Not only thought of procedure itself maybe a bit scary, but also the changes that are about to come after.
We know that the worst of the fears is the fear of unknown, and this is why we will do everything to prepare you as well as possible not only for the surgery, but for your new life with the band. One of the main objectives of our DayOne Health weight loss program is to make your transition into a new lifestyle easier and more effective.
