Month 8 Post Op

Day One HealthWell, I suppose it will be true from now on until I reach my goal weight but I am the smallest I have been in my adult life. I never get tired of saying that.  And this blog brings some particularly exciting news because I have finally reached what they call on The Biggest Loser, “One-derland”! That means I am finally out of the 200’s and into the 100’s. Woohoo! This has been a challenging month though and getting to this great milestone has not been easy. I am constantly working with my band to achieve the healthful life I have always wanted. Especially when it is so hot out, there is the temptation to just stay inside and eat ice cream or sit on the couch and avoid sweating at all costs. But in order to be the person I want to be I have to pay the price and keep myself moving.

I read a quote the other day that has really motivated me, “No matter how slow you go, you’re lapping everyone sitting on the couch.” That statement reminds me that I don’t have to be the best; I just have to give my best. In order to keep from plateauing in my weight loss my sister-in-law and I are going to start Jillian Michael’s 30-day shred. I know it’s gonna kick my butt, but that’s the price to pay for being in good shape. It’s all about making one right choice at a time; doing a little better than the day before. Another new thing for me that has come in part because of the lap-band is I’m training myself slowly to run a 5K. For some that might sound like no big deal, but when you consider that less than two years ago I could barely walk because of three ruptured disks in my back and pain that was compounded by my weight; this is a HUGE step forward for me. My clothes are getting smaller and my confidence is getting bigger.

I have a lot to look forward to because of the freedom that I’ve earned with the help of the lap-band and I can’t imagine living life any other way. Thank you to everyone who has sent words of encouragement and support. They really mean a lot to me and I appreciate you all so much. I sincerely hope you all are having a great summer!
