All
of us at DayOne want you to feel safe and comfortable before, during
and after your Lap-Band surgery. As a result, our entire team makes
sure that you understand exactly what to expect at each stage of the
process. Once you have scheduled a consultation, therefore, we
work closely with you as you prepare for surgery - providing the
necessary nutritional counseling, emotional support, insurance
assistance and pre-operative testing needed to ensure a successful
outcome.
In total, you will need to make about
2-3 visits to the DayOne clinic prior to your actual surgery
for your preliminary medical assessment, psychological evalutation,
nutritional counseling and pre-operative testing. Please note that
the timing for the completion of these steps and the scheduling of
surgery varies from patient to patient based on whether or not you are
paying for the operation yourself (approximately 2 weeks) or seeking
insurance coverage for the procedure (generally 3-5 weeks).
Once
the results of the pre-operative tests have been evaluated and
medically cleared by the physician, your surgery date will be
scheduled. After your surgery has been scheduled, our entire
team continues to provide the support and guidance to help you
mentally and physically prepare for the procedure.
We
also make sure that you understand exactly what to expect immediately
before, during and after the procedure to eliminate any anxiety you
might have. And the day before your surgery you will receive a
pre-operative call by our nurse providing you with instructions (what
you can eat before surgery, what you should bring with you, what you
can wear, etc.) and answering any of your last minute questions.
Our
care, support and guidance continue long after your actual surgery. We
are committed not only to helping you prepare for surgery, but also to
helping you prepare for life after surgery. The procedure is just the
beginning from our perspective; we are dedicated to continuing to
support you at every step until you have succeeded at reaching your weight loss goal.
