Surgeons at DayOne Health are now successfully performing Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band Surgery through a single 1½ inch incision rather than the traditional five incisions in the abdomen. In some cases, a second ¼ inch incision is made under the ribcage to provide adequate exposure to the upper stomach.
SI-LAGB is identical to the traditional Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band procedure, except that fewer incisions are made, potentially resulting in less pain, quicker recovery and superior cosmetic results. The technique is expected to gain popularity among bariatric surgeons because represents one of the next major advances in minimally invasive surgery.
Currently only a small number of surgeons in the country are offering this technique for the treatment of obesity. DayOne Health is proud to be one of the pioneers in the country to offer this procedure. Only select patients may qualify for this technique.
