Weight Loss Results - How Much Weight Will I Lose?
Would You Like to Lose 100 Pounds by This Month Next Year?
With DayOne Health, accomplishing this goal may be easier than you think. From the moment you decide to participate in our program, achieving your desired weight becomes a team effort. Once you get your lap-band, we will make sure you stay on track with your nutritional follow-up visits and band adjustments. The lap-band procedure is not merely a surgery, but a lifestyle that, when followed according to plan, brings astounding results. With your commitment and our support, you will succeed.
First-Year Weight-Loss Expectations
Most of our patients find they lose five to ten pounds a month, depending on their individual diet and exercise regimens. A weight loss of two to three pounds a week during the first year after the weight-loss surgery is possible, but one pound a week is more likely.
If you stick to our guidelines and actively participate in our program, you can lose over 50 percent of your excess weight within the first year following your surgery. This means if you are 100 pounds overweight at the time of the procedure, you will likely have lost at least 50 pounds after one year. Of course, these results are only an average, and many of our patients achieve even better results in shorter periods of time.
Long-Term Weight-Loss Results
In the years following your surgery, you will continue to steadily shed extra pounds. Sometimes the pace may slow down, but the weight loss continues until you decide that you have achieved your goal. You will also notice many improvements in your overall health. Along with losing weight, most patients find that their related medical problems, such as diabetes, sleep apnea, gastro-esophageal reflux (GERD) and high blood pressure, improve or even disappear completely after the lap-band procedure.
In fact, medical researchers have reported that lap-band surgery dramatically improved the health of seriously obese people with Type 2 diabetes. In a study involving obese diabetic patients, 64 percent had complete remission of their diabetes a year following the surgery and 26 percent had “major improvement” in their control of blood sugar levels. The surgery also resulted in improved blood pressure, cholesterol, sleep patterns, depression and overall quality of life.
